Anne Sawyer-Aitch is a puppeteer, stilt-walker, playwright and arts educator. Specializing in color shadow puppets, stilt puppets, and masks, she has created and performed in both original shows and commissioned pieces for theaters, museums, and festivals around Minnesota.
Anne’s work has been described as “visceral and colorful.” From batik-like shadow puppets to giant papier mache creatures, she strives to make art that is vibrant and accessible to everyone. She delights in all aspects of her work, from building her puppets to writing, performing, and interacting with the crowd.
In the gallery, you’ll see twelve-foot puppets, Commedia Dell’Arte masks, and a video clip of a shadow show made for Kari Tauring’s 2003 Solstice Show at the Cedar Cultural Center.
